As I mentioned last week, I am modifying the habits that I had originally planned given the current circumstances.
This week’s habit is to UNPLUG FROM THE NEGATIVE NOISE and it’s an extremely important one.
What does that mean? It means to stop spending your time watching or reading the news, checking on the current number of COVID-19 cases, getting caught up in the social media postings that are populated with political ranting.
I say this from experience. I have done and am still tempted to do all of the above. BUT, I have also experienced the benefits of unplugging. When I unplug, I am productive and happier. The FEAR that consumed me when reading all of the above diminished, allowing me to focus on CREATING and DOING.
The numbers and the situation will still be the same, whether you read the news or not. All the things to be angry about will still be there. We need to be safe, yes!! But the anger (and believe me, I can get angry over this) will only hurt you right now. I found that the anger and fear was paralyzing me into inaction.
Instead, stay home and unplug. Focus your energy on the positive things you can be/are doing: spending time with family, working from home in whatever capacity you can, or using the time you didn’t have before to create or do the things that you’ve been wanting to do for a while.
TRY IT FOR AT LEAST ONE DAY and see if you can see the difference in your mood, temperament, and productivity.
