Incorporate a Wellness Nighttime Routine

It’s Monday.  Deep breath.  I don’t know about you but Mondays make me anxious. It’s the start of the new week with work (and more work) and deadlines (and more deadlines) awaiting.  There are several things, however, that I’ve recently initiated that have helped me with my work-week anxiety.

One is establishing a wellness nighttime routine. For me, this means BEING QUIET — allowing myself time and space to shut down and unplug.  My mechanism is a good ol’ fashion bath with magnesium epsom salts because, well, my body has not been my friend lately.  Seriously, why I haven’t I done this sooner?  These baths are my release.  Great for the aching body and also for the stressed-out brain.

Even if your wellness routine is simply washing your face before bed or stretching, make this a regular, consistent thing. With deep breaths — releasing the stress of that day.  In order words, BEFORE you hit that pillow, be in a more relaxed state.  Take 5 minutes to decompress. It helps you fall asleep easier and definitely can help elevate your mood.

[EVERY WEEK, A NEW ‘HABIT’ WILL BE POSTED AS PART OF MY BRIGHT LIGHT LIVING HEALTHY HABITS SERIES. THESE ‘HEALTHY HABITS’ ENCOMPASS HABITS FOR THE MIND, BODY, SPIRIT, AND ONE’S PERSPECTIVE OF LIFE—IN ORDER TO LIVE BRIGHT.  YOU MAY WISH TO IMPLEMENT THE HABITS EACH WEEK (IF SO, I ENCOURAGE YOU TO DOWNLOAD THE HEALTHY HABITS ASSESSMENT FORM). OR, THE WEEK’S HABIT CAN SIMPLY SERVE AS A JOURNAL PROMPT OR SOMETHING TO PONDER.  IT’S UP TO YOU. I DO HOPE YOU WILL CHECK IN EACH WEEK.]
