Form a ONE Minute Habit

A habit is best formed when it becomes a routine, so what better way to form a routine than to make it quick and manageable . . . like something that can be done in ONE MINUTE.

I say this because one minute seems doable, right?  It’s not overwhelming to think about; it doesn’t involve a large time commitment.  You can do just about anything for a minute.

I started this a few years back . . . At first, I spent my minute in the morning making the bed when I would first wake up. But then that habit was formed. Making my bed every morning (some days with all the pillows on top; some days minimally made, but made) is now part of my regular routine.  I later used my minute to do a plank—planks are not fun, but the short time constraint made it possible.  I did this regularly for months and it paid off.  Sadly, I got away from it, but. . .it’s back on.  The plank will once again be my one minute challenge.

What will yours be?

Give it a try. . .whether it is spending a minute praying, exercising, or even flossing your teeth.  Determine what habit you would like to form and try the One Minute Method to make it stick.

[Every Monday, a new ‘habit’ will be posted as part of my Bright Light Living Healthy Habits series. These ‘Healthy Habits’ encompass habits for the mind, body, spirit, and one’s perspective of life—in order to LIVE BRIGHT.  You may wish to implement the habits each week (if so, I encourage you to download the Healthy Habits Assessment form). Or, the week’s habit can simply serve as a journal prompt or something to ponder.  It’s up to you. I do hope you will check in each week.]
