Tips for Living Bright 5/24: MAKE A CONCERTED EFFORT FOR CHANGE
When I started this May Challenge in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, I also challenged myself to take my own advice. My goal was to use this exercise as a way to keep my blinders on, stay focused, and ignore any of the negative voices and doubts that often try to deter me from my goals and happiness.
And you know what? It’s working.
I found myself tempted on several occasions to say something negative about myself, get upset, or even talk myself out of some of my goals. But, I didn’t because I made a concerted effort to make positive changes.
Like in AA where acceptance is the first step in recovery, acknowledging your desire to make a change is the first step in making it happen.
Personal change never happens by happenstance. There’s always a decision being made. A choice.
What choice will you make today?
Are you deciding to be happy? Are you making a choice to take steps to stay positive?
That first step, that decision, could be deciding to reach out for help. It could be about changing your lifestyle. It could be . . .
whatever you decide it is that is standing in your way.
Regardless, there is a choice.
What’s yours going to be today?
