Tips for Living Bright 05/12: GRATITUDE
It is very easy to fall into the trap of comparing oneself with others and feeling inferior because someone has more money, a bigger house, a better job, a better body, a seemingly perfect life.  Here’s a secret:  There will always be people who have more than you; there will also always be people who have less than you. Be grateful for what you have.

Here’s another secret:  That might be all an illusion. You never know what others are going through.

Today, I am making a conscious effort to watch my words–am I grumbling about the yucky weather, am I complaining about the dishes in the kitchen sink (okay, maybe I am mentally)?  AND, I am consciously looking for things for which I am grateful. Today, I am grateful for my healthy family and the hug my youngest always gives me in the morning before leaving. I am grateful for the roof over my head (even with the temporary holes–long story).

Where is your focus?

You can focus on the good or the bad, but never both.  If you find yourself complaining, quickly REPLACE your moaning with something positive. Believe it-or-not, this focus is a habit.  Pay attention to your thoughts and remarks.

Focusing on what you lack rather than what you have can easily strip away your happiness, confidence, and sense of purpose. (I’ve learned that the hard way.) On the flip side, gratitude brings about more things to be grateful for.

Gratitude is an ENERGY and, not only can it transform your mindset, it can bring about positive changes in your life.
